COVID-19 and Your Wedding - What to do

And just like that and due to COVID-19, we are all scrambling with updated information that seems to come by the hour. How are you doing!?! I wanted to hop in your feed and tell you YOU ARE DOING YOUR BEST and that is enough!

Yesterday I sent an email to all my 2020 wedding clients, most aren’t until Summer/Fall but as your photographer I want you to know I will be flexible, I will have your back! Evoke Wedding Photography is here for my clients every step of the way and if I can provide any remote assistance outside of photography, I will do what I can.

It’s important in times like this that we all work together as a team. Vendors unite and let’s help each other and make sure we take the absolute best care of our clients to relieve any unnecessary stress. I personally have a better mindset when I am on a mission … just give me a task and I will forge forward!

With all that being said I wanted to just put it out there that as of right now, Evoke Wedding Photography is still in business as usual mode. I have several upcoming engagement sessions I plan to shoot and I think it’s a great time for engagement or family portraits … WHY!?! Because we are safe outside in the beauty of this incredible PNW - fresh air and plenty of space between us, we can remain safe and till capture incredible memories during this time and I plan to do so! I won’t hug you, shake your hand or even fist bump during this time BUT that’s the beauty of my profession, I can still work and you can still get out and enjoy a good time!

But for those who may be impacted in the upcoming months

Let’s talk about a few options you can consider …

If you have a wedding planned for the upcoming weeks or even through the month of May, it is time to start strategizing. If you don’t have a planner start working with your squad to get an idea of how/if this will impeded on your wedding. Your current options:

  1. Stay the course but contact your venue and see what their current measures are for sanitation. Ask your guests to bring their own hand sanitizer and don’t have any physical contact with yours guests … air-five or do jazz hands … this will be hard but of course it is necessary.

  2. Decrease the size of your wedding. I know couples certainly don’t want to do this but you may likely need to or be required to. Always put your health and the health of your guests at top priority. Consider doing a live broadcast for those who can’t/shouldn’t travel so they can still witness this important time for you and be a part of it!

  3. Do a small elopement with just the essential guests (maybe your wedding party if dresses/suits have been purchased) and then host a rocking good reception over the Summer.

  4. Postpone the event. This option requires you to work closely with your vendors who should all be very flexible but you may need to consider a weekday event in the Late Summer or Fall if you still want 2020. As a vendor myself I am doing all I can to be as flexible as possible but I can’t just create extra Saturdays or Sundays so be prepared to be flexible as well!

Just remember … we are all in this together and we are all doing our BEST … don’t forget to look each other in the eyes every day and remember why you chose each other, this may very well be your very first stressful event to work yourselves through so work TOGETHER and you will get through this trying time. Emotions will be high but don’t let them get the best of you!

Wishing you all the absolute BEST!
