Weekday Wedding at Water Oasis // Newberg, Oregon

By now we’ve all really felt the changes from the pandemic. Some good, some not, but one trend I am becoming more and more a fan of is weekday weddings! These don’t happen often but with the right planning and having them on a Monday or Friday you will likely not have any issues finding great vendors for the height of the season & your friends and family can have a nice extended weekend (more guests show up because they get out of work for a day and it didn’t interfere with their Summer weekend).

Oregon Weddings are typically on weekends and the height of wedding season is usually mid June-Mid October for outdoor weddings. In July of last year I had the absolute honor of photographing Melissa and Miguel’s Monday wedding. I also did her twin sisters wedding a couple years prior so it made it all the ore special to see the family and friends of theirs again!

Both weddings were in the Summer and both were really warm days. In Oregon, a Summer wedding can mean HEAT … your wedding day should have the heat accounted for by planning for shade for your guests and having extra handy water bottles and even sunscreen available. On this day, I went up and down the isles a few minutes before the ceremony with my bottle of sunscreen to give anyone a dollop if they needed it (and several people did). I am a fair-skinned gal myself and I will honestly have a sunburn in less than 5 minutes of untreated areas.

But Melissa & Miguel and their fabulous team planned accordingly and the day was perfect. The venue, The Water Oasis is a lovely space with several options for different sized events and with absolutely stunning grounds.

Melissa & Miguel were surrounded by love and the finished the evening at 6:30pm to ensure their guests didn’t have a late night but also because they were being true to themselves who don’t tend to party. Remember, you don’t have to do things at your wedding because other people do or even because it seems to be a “norm” … you do you!
