Will COVID-19 Affect my 2021 Wedding?

2020 and Covid-19 ravaged the wedding industry (among so many others) with different rules across the Country and from County to County. Couples and vendors spent the year watching the risk levels and making and re-making plans. Some eloped, some scaled down, some went on with a good sized party and masked up and some pretended everything was normal. I don’t judge anyones choices. We are human and we are all dealing with this once in a lifetime event in different ways.

We are now in 2021 and those who moved their events a full year later to this coming Spring/Summer here in Oregon are starting to second guess and question their new date. Will it be safe? Will I be allowed to have a big event? Will my family be safe? Will family and friends be able to travel here? Will my event get cancelled with short notice and will I lose money!?!

I don’t have those answers. But I am standing by my clients and willing to flex in so many ways to make sure whatever their decision is, I support it. I support my clients and will do what I can to make your day the best and most memorable with beautiful images to document the day.

If you find yourself questioning if you will be able to go through with your day, you have options … but PLEASE check with all your vendors and make sure to work with them. This year was just as hard as we moved so many couples from 2020 to 2021 and weren’t able to contract as much “new” income for this year so please go forward with empathy for your vendors as well.

So here is my advice for 2021 weddings. If your wedding is anytime this year in Oregon, reach out to your vendors and just ask what their policy is or what their thoughts are for if you need/want to change your date. Get as much information you can so you can make the best decision for your event and so you don’t get surprised by something 30 days prior to your wedding. This pandemic has done a toll on so many but your wedding should still be a beautiful event celebrating your love … you should feel love and not stress and you deserve to celebrate!

Below are photos from a beautiful and sort of last minute plan thrown together by one of my 2020 couples who decided to do a cute Courthouse Elopement to seal the deal and are hoping to through a big celebration as soon as it’s safe to do so. They did’t plan on having any family or friends there but to their surprise, his sister and her kids drove down from Seattle to support them and share this incredibly special day. I think we all got a little teary eyed!
